The ASCC 2006 Oval Track Series

Roland Brown waited till the last race of the Appalachian Sports Car Club’s six race event series at Speedway 94 to pull ahead of Todd Sprinkle to win the overall points championship by a score of 427 to 419.

Roland is a smooth accomplished circle track driver and has driven the classic cars, thunder cars and stock cars. Watch him; you won't see any wasted motion.

Todd's dad raised him on a kart track and he has run solo and club road racing events as well as TransAm, GrandAm and Daytona.  He holds the A Sports Racer lap record at Summit Point Raceway.

Todd started out the series by winning all three events in the winter midget series and finished that series with 253 points followed by Roland Brown, a respectable second with 214 points.

In the fall sprint car series, Roland won the first event and Todd followed with a win in the second event giving Todd a one point lead going into the last event. Because of a whole series of rainouts, five weeks passed before we could get in the last event on November 22. A decision was made that if it was raining on the 22nd, we’d run the indoor midgets rather than the outdoor sprints. Once more it rained and we ran the midgets.

Roland won the midget event and the series championship going away and did a counter race lap to celebrate while Todd fell on hard times and didn’t make the feature.

The final points standings, Roland Brown 427, Todd Sprinkle 419, Markus Houser 362, Chris Belieu 360 and Bill Brown 350.
